13-6A Week 3 Wrap-Up: Unbeaten Streaks and Star Performances Light Up Friday Night Lights!

This weekend saw some of the most thrilling plays and nail-biting moments in the UIL District 13-6A varsity football scene.

Let's kick off with the unstoppable teams! Willis and The Woodlands have extended their winning streaks to 3-0. In an exhilarating performance that had everyone on their feet, Willis quarterback DJ Lagway showcased his Florida Gators-bound talent. He passed for five touchdowns and rushed for another. Teammates Jermaine Bishop and DeBraun Hampton were in the spotlight too, each with a touchdown. Jalen Mickens also made it to the endzone, courtesy of Lagway's arm.

The Woodlands stayed strong in their match, with quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, who's committed to Wisconsin, leading the way. Aden Self was undoubtedly the player of the game, though, racking up 144 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Oak Ridge also had a night to remember, with their defensive powerhouses Justin Williams and Jonah-Ajonye—both committed to Georgia—anchoring a stout performance.

Special shoutout to Caney Creek for their fantastic win, proving that teamwork always pays off.

Looking ahead, there's no shortage of excitement. Oak Ridge is hosting Conroe this Thursday, while Willis will face Cleveland this Friday. And let's not forget The Woodlands' Homecoming Game against Grand Oaks—it's going to be a spectacle!

We'd also like to give a nod to the coaches shaping these young athletes. With new faces like Kyle Coats at College Park and Shaun McDowell at Grand Oaks, as well as veteran coaches like Mark Schmid and Jim Rapp, the district is looking stronger than ever.

So gear up, fans. The season is just warming up, and the best is yet to come!
