The Woodlands, Texas — Coach Clifton McNeely, head coach of the boys' basketball team, was honored Saturday afternoon at College Park High School for achieving his 700th career win in basketball. The recognition, held before the Cavaliers’ game against New Caney, was attended by current players, Principal Robert MacFarlane, College Park HS Athletic Director Kyle Coats, Conroe ISD Athletic Director Chris Feris, friends, family, and a supportive crowd of Cavaliers fans.

Coach McNeely, a 30-year veteran of the sport, has built a reputation for dependable play and impactful leadership. His career has included assistant coaching positions at Port Arthur Lincoln and Aldine Eisenhower, as well as stints at Southern Methodist University and the University of Houston. The mathematically-minded leader has cultivated an array of strategies, making him one of the most respected coaches in 13-6A.

During the pregame ceremony, Coach McNeely was presented with a commemorative game ball to mark the milestone, which had been achieved the previous week on January 4, 2025, during an away game where College Park defeated Cleveland High School 80-31. Following the recognition, the Cavaliers dominated New Caney, winning 99-33.

After the game, Coach McNeely took a moment to reflect on his accomplishments with his wife of 38 years, his son, and his granddaughter, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support throughout his career.

College Park built a commanding 47-25 lead by halftime and limited New Caney to just three points in the third quarter and five in the fourth. Senior Ian Inman led all scorers with 25 points, while Aiden Buckman added 18 points and 11 assists. Jacob Oman contributed 17 points and seven rebounds. Underclassmen Robert Matthews and freshman Quentin Buckmon also impressed, scoring 10 and 8 points, respectively.

The Cavaliers’ next game is against Conroe on January 15, 2025, at home. Both teams are tied at 6-2 in district play, making the matchup critical as the second half of the 2024-2025 district season begins.
