Founding Volleyball Coach Celebrated for Building a Legacy of Success at College Park High School

The Woodlands, TX – College Park High School celebrated a major milestone on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, by honoring Coach Candice Collins-Gibson and the 20th anniversary of the Cavalier Volleyball program during a special pregame ceremony.
Held before the district 13-6A varsity matchup against Grand Oaks, the event recognized Coach Collins-Gibson’s incredible leadership and the program’s journey to success over the past two decades.. Colorful decorations filled the hallways leading to the gym, reflecting the energy and excitement surrounding College Park Volleyball’s 20th anniversary.
Since establishing the inaugural volleyball program in 2005, Coach Collins-Gibson has achieved 464 wins, 16 playoff appearances, and 15 bi-district championships. Her team has earned three undefeated district titles, seven area championships, and even reached the regional tournament finals in 2017, finishing 5th in the state. Under her leadership, College Park Volleyball has also celebrated four “30” plus win seasons and four district championships, cementing her place as a legendary figure in College Park’s history.
Coach Collins-Gibson’s coaching excellence has not gone unnoticed—she is a four-time District Coach of the Year and two-time Montgomery County Coach of the Year. Known for motivating athletes through positive attitudes and teamwork, she fosters a supportive environment where players can build mental and physical strength while developing character and confidence.
When she’s not on the court, Coach Collins-Gibson enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike Gibson, head men’s cross country and track coach at College Park, and their two boys, Miles and Camden. The family is also accompanied by their two dogs, Louie and Zoe.
