Community Rallies Behind Inspiration Ranch at Denim & Diamonds Gala
Families shared how equine-assisted services have created moments of connection, confidence and hope.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Community members gathered Saturday, Sept. 19, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott in the Woodlands, Texas, to support Inspiration Ranch and the families whose lives are being changed through its equine-assisted programs.
The 18th annual Denim & Diamonds Gala brought guests together for an evening of personal testimony, recognition, fundraising and celebration. The event began with arrival photographs, a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and the program.
The gathering reflected one of the strengths of The Woodlands and surrounding area: families, businesses, volunteers and neighbors coming together to support organizations that improve lives. Inspiration Ranch is a clear example of that community spirit, turning local generosity into hope, healing and meaningful opportunities for the families it serves.
Inspiration Ranch provides therapeutic riding and other equine-assisted services for children, youth and adults facing physical, emotional, cognitive and social challenges. On its 40-acre property in Magnolia, horses work alongside certified instructors, mental health professionals and volunteers to help clients pursue individual goals.
More than 100 children and youth participate in the ranch’s therapeutic riding program each week. Lessons may focus on mobility, balance, communication, confidence, emotional well-being or greater independence. The ranch also offers trauma-focused equine-assisted psychotherapy and group learning programs.
The organization describes the ranch as a welcoming, family-oriented and judgment-free environment where participants can build relationships with horses while working toward better health and well-being.
During the gala, parents and instructors shared examples of what that work can mean for a family.
One parent recalled that after her daughter’s first visit to Inspiration Ranch, the child initiated an unexpected hug. The following day, her daughter appeared calmer and more confident at school.
An instructor shared another milestone involving a rider described as nonverbal. While riding, he said, “Walk on.” His mother was moved to tears because she had never heard him speak those words.
Those experiences helped guests understand the ranch’s impact beyond attendance totals, facilities and fundraising goals. Progress can arrive through a spoken phrase, an unexpected expression of affection or a child approaching the next day with greater confidence.
Before dinner, guests explored silent-auction offerings, a general store, wine and bourbon pulls and a display of “Doodle Art.” The art project pairs drawings created by Inspiration Ranch clients with local artists who transform them into one-of-a-kind pieces.
The dinner program included an invocation by Mike Maher, a welcome and ranch update from Inspiration Ranch President and CEO MG Tindall, a “Giving Hope to Families” video, family testimonies, a live auction, the “Pony Up” fundraising appeal and a raffle drawing.
Tindall described the past year as pivotal in shaping the organization’s future and recognized the people responsible for carrying out its mission. Members of the therapeutic riding, mental health, marketing and development, and property teams were publicly thanked.
The property team completed more than 250 work orders during the year to help maintain a safe environment for clients, staff members, volunteers and horses. The board of directors was also recognized for providing governance, accountability, oversight and strategic direction.
The gala honored Amerigo’s Grille and Carol and Michael Watford for their service to Inspiration Ranch and the surrounding community.
Amerigo’s Grille has been a longtime supporter of the ranch, hosting the gala’s VIP reception and contributing to its live auction. Tina Kosh Goodson, whose family is associated with the restaurant, chaired this year’s gala committee and serves on the Inspiration Ranch Board of Directors.
Carol Watford is a PATH International-certified therapeutic riding instructor who began serving at the ranch before joining its board. She now also chairs the organization’s capital campaign committee. Michael Watford was recognized for his support of Inspiration Ranch and his service to other nonprofit organizations.
The program also honored founding board member Bob Marlowe, who died in December 2025. Heidi Marlowe was invited to the stage to receive a memorial plaque that will hang in the Inspiration Ranch boardroom.
Jason Alexander served as the evening’s auctioneer, but his connection to the ranch extended beyond the auction stage. His son, Austin, is an Inspiration Ranch rider.
Live-auction offerings included original artwork, a private culinary experience from Amerigo’s Grille, jewelry, a golf experience, a private dinner at the ranch and an “Eras Tour Encore” guitar package.
Following dinner and the program, guests continued the evening at the Outlaw Saloon Afterparty, which included dancing, mechanical bull riding, armadillo races and other western-themed activities.
While the evening included plenty of celebration, its purpose remained centered on making Inspiration Ranch’s services available to more families. The nonprofit does not bill insurance or receive state or federal funding. Donations help offset the cost of services while supporting the horses, facilities, scholarships and specialized programs required to operate the ranch.
Community members do not have to wait for the next gala to become involved. Inspiration Ranch welcomes volunteers to assist riders, lead horses, help with events and support the care and maintenance of the property. Visitors may also request a tour to meet the team and learn more about the programs.
