Conroe, Texas – The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees announced Wednesday evening that Dr. David Vinson has been named the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools. The decision was made during a special called board meeting.

Trustees said the announcement follows a comprehensive three-month search that drew interest from education leaders across Texas and the nation. Board members emphasized their unity and confidence in Dr. Vinson’s selection, pointing to his experience, leadership, and vision as reasons he was chosen.
Dr. Vinson currently serves as Superintendent of Wylie ISD in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, a position he has held for several years. He has more than 32 years of experience in Texas public education, including roles as a teacher, principal, and district leader.
The appointment comes as Conroe ISD continues to grow as one of the largest and fastest-growing districts in Texas. State law requires a 21-day waiting period before the board can formally approve Dr. Vinson as superintendent.
