Conroe Tigers Secure Key Spring Break Victory Against Grand Oaks in District 13-6A Softball

Eva Lantagne Leads Tigers with Stellar Performance at Plate and Mound

Eva Lantagne led the Conroe Tigers to an 8-4 win over Grand Oaks with a commanding performance both at bat and on the mound during the special Spring Break early game.

Eva Lantagne drove in four runs on one hit for Conroe, including a game-altering home run in the fifth inning. As the starting pitcher, she notched seven strikeouts, surrendered only one earned run, and allowed just three hits. The Tigers set the scoring in motion in the first inning following Lantagne's RBI and continued to build their lead with consistent offense.

Grand Oaks' first baseman Abby Garza also made a notable contribution with two runs on two hits and three RBIs, including a solo home run in the fourth and a two-RBI homer in the sixth inning. Despite Garza's efforts, Grand Oaks could not close the gap created by Conroe's offensive surge led by Lantagne's performance and the additional home runs from Alisa Sneed and Aaliyah Haynes.

Kaylee Chatman topped Conroe's offensive display with three hits, and the team effectively utilized their speed with two stolen bases. The Tigers' defense was just as impactful, turning a crucial double play during the game. Garza led Grand Oaks not only in hits but also had the most fielding chances, though her defensive prowess couldn't counter Conroe's persistent batting.

While Conroe's victory solidified their second-place standing in the district, Grand Oaks will now regroup as they have a bye in the district schedule. Conroe, meanwhile, prepares to host the struggling Cleveland High School team, currently with a record of one win and five losses in the district, looking to extend their winning ways at home.
