THE WOODLANDS, Texas – College Park opened UIL District 13-6A play with a 60–59 overtime win over Conroe on Tuesday night at College Park High School. Junior guard Tyson Forrest scored 42 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter and hit a corner three with 10 seconds remaining to give College Park the lead.

The game was the first district contest of the 2025–26 season and the first district win for head coach Kenneth Stephens in his debut season leading the Cavaliers’ boys basketball program.
In the closing minutes, Forrest carried the College Park offense, attacking the basket, getting to the line, and scoring from the perimeter. In overtime, every College Park point came from Forrest, ending with the go-ahead three from the corner over multiple defenders with 10 seconds left.
After the game, Coach Stephens said his staff expected Conroe’s coach to use a late-game stall because of his background in Beaumont.
“We knew he was going to do that,” Stephens said. “that’s kind of their style… they get up and they’re going to stall. We know that. So I told the guys about that earlier in the week.”
Stephens said the message to the team late was simple. “Just stay one possession at a time,” he said. “We needed to make sure that we got to stop and then came back and had efficient offensive possession. So those things that we talk about every day, our principles that we do every day, stuck through and carried us through in the end.”

The win was also Stephens’ first district victory at College Park. “I had to make it a tough one,” he said, when asked about winning his first district game in overtime. “I guess it’s kind of been an M.O. of our season right now, as we’re just battling through adversity and injury. I think right now, we just figuring out a way to keep winning. And at the end of the day, I’m proud of the group.”
On the final offensive possession, Stephens said the play was drawn up with two shooting options. “I had an option for both of my shooters,” he said. “It was the goal for Jayden Heidelberger first, and then if he didn’t have it, to get it to Tyson. And Tyson just again, he just rolls to the moment like he does.”
Forrest had already carried the scoring load, and Stephens said he was comfortable with the ball in his hands on the last shot.
“I was gonna live with it,” Stephens said. “Tyson carried us all night, and at end of day, win, lose or draw, I was gonna go with his shot in that situation” Coach Stephens
Forrest finished with 42 of College Park’s 60 points in the overtime win.
