Local HOSA Students Represent Conroe ISD at International Conference

Students from College Park, Grand Oaks and The Woodlands competed in Indianapolis from June 16-21.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — HOSA students from College Park High School, Grand Oaks High School and The Woodlands High School represented Conroe ISD at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, held Tuesday, June 16, through Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

Ishika Varipilli, of College Park High School, earned third place nationally in Medical Spelling. The competition includes both a written test and a live spelling bee event.

Grand Oaks High School EMT Team members Katherine Mack and Joshua Garvens were recognized on stage as Top 10 National Finalists in the EMT competition.

Other national competitors included Elizabeth Homan, of Grand Oaks High School, in Extemporaneous Speaking; Saketh Komaragiri, of College Park High School, in Biotechnology; and Vivaan Jain, of The Woodlands High School, in Medical Law & Ethics.

The results reflect the work of the students, the support of their teachers and the strength of Health Science programs across Conroe ISD. Teachers connected to the students included Shannon Hall, of College Park High School; Mark Gongora, of Grand Oaks High School; and Chelsea Baker, of The Woodlands High School.

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and several federal and state agencies. The organization’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience.
