National Charity League Bluebonnet Chapter Honors Seniors, Service at 2026 Tea

Lilly Pulitzer-themed gathering recognized the Class of 2027, celebrated philanthropy and included a donation to Mercy House Global.

MAGNOLIA, Texas — Mothers and daughters from the National Charity League, Inc. Bluebonnet Chapter gathered Sunday, Aug. 9, at The Blue Magnolia in Magnolia for the chapter’s 2026 Tea and Ticktocker Tribute, a program recognizing seniors, philanthropy, leadership and the chapter’s newest members.

The event brought together members from the classes of 2027 through 2032. The Class of 2027 seniors received individual recognition, members were honored for service completed during the 2025-26 NCL year, and Mercy House Global received a donation from the chapter.

National Charity League, Inc. is a multigenerational philanthropic organization that brings mothers and daughters together through community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. Its core program is for mothers and daughters in grades 7-12. The organization’s mission centers on strengthening the mother-daughter relationship through philanthropy, culture and leadership.

The Bluebonnet Chapter serves South Montgomery County. Chapter members volunteer with local nonprofit organizations while participating in leadership and cultural programs.

Lilly Pulitzer theme fills The Blue Magnolia

The Class of 2027 selected a Lilly Pulitzer theme for this year’s tea.  Pink, green and floral patterns carried throughout the afternoon, from members’ dresses to the striped pink-and-white backdrop surrounding a flower wall with the Bluebonnets name.

Round tables were set with white linens, gold chargers, pink accents and floral centerpieces. Tiered trays held tea sandwiches and other refreshments, while signature beverages included Shirley Temples and a Palm Beach Spritz.

The setting inside The Blue Magnolia included exposed brick, wood beams and round tables filling the main event space. Chapter members arrived dressed in the bright colors and floral patterns associated with the afternoon’s theme.

The chapter’s Board of Directors and Tea Committee were among the groups photographed during the event. Michele Bickett serves as president of the Bluebonnet Chapter, according to NCL’s current chapter information.

Mercy House Global shares its work

The afternoon program included a presentation from Mercy House Global featuring Angie Shelton, director of programs, and Susie Crane, director of development. They discussed the Magnolia-based organization’s work locally and internationally and the role volunteers play in that work.

Mercy House Global describes its mission as creating opportunities for vulnerable families through orphan prevention, job creation and personal and spiritual development. Its programs include Rehema House in Kenya and initiatives that provide employment and workforce-development opportunities for women.

During the presentation, attendees watched video showing some of the people and programs supported by Mercy House Global. Shelton explained how its work can begin with immediate assistance and continue through education, training, employment and long-term stability.

2026  Tea Committee

Seniors take center stage

The Class of 2027 became the focus of the next portion of the afternoon.

Each senior was introduced individually as her biography and future plans were shared with the audience. The presentations included school activities, academics, community service, NCL experiences and plans for college and careers.

During each introduction, the senior walked forward to meet her mother for a commemorative mother-daughter photograph before returning to her seat.

Plans shared by the seniors included studies and careers in health care, engineering, business, psychology, veterinary medicine, dentistry and other fields. Their biographies also reflected involvement across The Woodlands-area student community, including cheerleading, dance, soccer, swimming, volleyball, track and field, orchestra, honor societies, church programs and other school organizations.

The format connected the afternoon’s senior recognition with one of the central features of National Charity League: mothers and daughters serving and developing leadership skills together. The Bluebonnet Chapter serves families in South Montgomery County.

Service recognized across grade levels

Recognition continued with awards for philanthropy and leadership.

The program included the Mother-Daughter Award, Spectrum Award, Modelette Award, Above and Beyond Award, Yellow Rosebud Award, Yellow Rose Award, Yellow Rose Bouquet Award, Mercy Award, Bluebonnet Award, Extra Mile Award and Helping Hands Award.

Asha Parker of the Class of 2030 received the Mercy Award after recording 174.25 philanthropy hours, the highest individual Ticktocker total recognized for the 2025-26 year.

Class of 2027

The Class of 2031 received the Helping Hands Award after completing 1,523 philanthropy hours, the highest class total recognized during the program.

Mothers who recorded more than 50 philanthropy hours also were recognized before the chapter welcomed its newest members, the Class of 2032.

Once the formal program was over, the Class of 2027 seniors headed outside for one more photograph.

The seniors lined up together across a bridge on The Blue Magnolia grounds, with the pond and fountain below them — a final class portrait at the end of an afternoon centered on their senior year, service and the years they have spent together through NCL.
