Oak Ridge Rallies Past Conroe as Four Teams Remain Unbeaten in District 13-6A

Coach Quinto’s War Eagles overcame a one-point deficit after doubles to defeat Conroe 11-8 and remain tied with College Park, Grand Oaks and The Woodlands atop the district standings.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Oak Ridge defeated Conroe 11-8 at Oak Ridge High School on Tuesday, Aug. 25, keeping Coach Quinto’s War Eagles in a four-way tie for first place in the District 13-6A team tennis standings.

Conroe carried a 4-3 advantage out of doubles competition after winning two boys doubles courts and two girls doubles courts. Oak Ridge responded by taking eight of the 12 singles matches to complete the comeback.

The War Eagles swept the No. 3 through No. 6 positions in both boys and girls singles. Conroe earned victories in the top two positions in each singles lineup.

College Park, Grand Oaks, Oak Ridge and The Woodlands are each 3-0 in district play. Conroe, Willis, Caney Creek and Cleveland are each 0-3.

The standings will begin to separate Tuesday, Sept. 1, when Grand Oaks visits The Woodlands in a matchup between undefeated district leaders. College Park travels to Caney Creek, Oak Ridge visits Cleveland and Conroe hosts Willis.
