Oak Ridge–The Woodlands Showdown Highlights Tuesday’s Volleyball Schedule

Tuesday’s meeting between Oak Ridge and The Woodlands offers more than local bragging rights. Tied for third in District 13-6A at 4-2, the two teams have an opportunity to separate themselves as the first half of district play concludes Sept. 29.

Both enter looking to rebound. The Woodlands pushed unbeaten Grand Oaks to five sets Friday, while Oak Ridge fell to second-place College Park.

Grand Oaks enters Tuesday’s home match against Cleveland riding a streak of 66 consecutive district victories. Friday’s narrow victory showed how closely the Highlanders can challenge the district leader. College Park remains just one match behind the Grizzlies, keeping pressure on the top spot heading into the second round of district meetings.

Further down the standings, Tuesday’s Willis–Conroe matchup carries its own significance. Both are 2-4, two matches behind Oak Ridge and The Woodlands. With one of those third-place teams guaranteed a loss Tuesday, the Willis–Conroe winner will move within one match of fourth place.

No team has been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. With eight matches remaining in the 14-match district schedule, even winless Cleveland can still reach eight district victories. Caney Creek and Cleveland face an uphill climb, but every team remains in the race for a top-four finish.
