THE WOODLANDS, Texas — With busy school schedules, after-school activities and work commitments often leaving little time for meal preparation, Original ChopShop is offering South Montgomery County residents another option for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Located at 10720 Kuykendahl Road, Suite D, in the Village of Indian Springs, the fast-casual restaurant serves protein bowls, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, juices and all-day breakfast. Its menu includes meat-based and plant-based dishes, along with customizable options for customers with different dietary preferences.

The Woodlands restaurant opened Sept. 18, 2024, becoming the company's 25th location nationwide and its third in the Houston area at the time. Now entering its third fall season in the community, Original ChopShop is preparing a November loyalty promotion as it continues serving families, students and working professionals.

What's on the menu?

Despite its name, Original ChopShop is neither a steakhouse nor a butcher shop. Instead, customers will find a menu built around ingredients that can be combined into meals suited to different tastes and dietary needs.

Among the restaurant's featured dishes is the Teriyaki Chicken Protein Bowl, made with grilled chicken and roasted vegetables. Customers can choose from several bases, including brown rice, jasmine rice, cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes, greens or black beans.

The Citrus Thai Salad offers a different combination, bringing together greens, oranges, roasted peppers, carrots, cucumber, jicama and Thai peanut dressing. Chicken, shrimp or tofu can be added to several salads for additional protein.

Sandwich choices include grilled steak, chicken and prosciutto, and the Grinder. The menu also includes acai bowls, juices, protein shakes and breakfast dishes.

For students heading to an early class, families between activities or athletes looking for something after practice, the restaurant's all-day breakfast menu provides another option. Breakfast wraps, avocado toast and customizable breakfast bowls are available beyond traditional breakfast hours.

Options for different dietary needs

One of Original ChopShop's distinguishing features is the number of ways customers can modify their orders.

The company identifies gluten-free, dairy-free, lactose-free and soy-free menu choices, along with vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes.

The Green Curry Tofu Bowl and Citrus Thai Salad are among the restaurant's vegan options. Its Thai Coconut Chicken Bowl is listed as gluten-free, while avocado toast is identified as a soy-free choice.

Customers can also substitute ingredients or eliminate items such as cheese to accommodate their preferences. Those with food allergies should confirm ingredients and preparation procedures with restaurant employees before ordering.

A neighborhood dining option

Original ChopShop opened its first restaurant in 2013 and has since expanded to several markets, including the Houston area, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arizona and Georgia.

The Woodlands location occupies part of the former Ace Hardware space at The Woodlands Crossing shopping center, near Trader Joe's in Indian Springs. The location offers dine-in service, outdoor seating, takeout, delivery and catering.

For residents deciding where to stop between appointments, practices, classes or family activities, the restaurant adds another choice along Kuykendahl Road, with a menu that extends from early breakfast through dinner.
