UIL Announces Key 2024 Football Dates: Summer Workouts to Championship Schedule

Comprehensive Schedule Released for Texas High School Football Season



The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has officially unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the 2024 Texas high school football season. This detailed timeline outlines the start dates for summer workouts, spring football, and the season kickoff, including the regular season and playoffs leading up to the state championships.


In preparation for the 2024 season, the UIL has set the stage for high schools across Texas with a structured calendar. Teams not participating in spring football are set to begin summer workouts on Monday, August 5, while those who are participating will start a week later on August 12.

Marking a change from previous years, the regular season is slated to commence with games on Thursday, August 29, leading into the traditional Friday night lights on August 30. The regular season is scheduled to conclude with games from Thursday, November 7, to Saturday, November 9. District certification for the playoffs is also tagged for November 9, signaling the commencement of post-season excitement.


As the countdown to the playoffs begins, the stakes are high with the playoffs kicking off on Thursday, November 14. The journey culminates with the UIL Football state championships, scheduled from Wednesday, December 18 to Saturday, December 21.
