THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Friends Megan Snell and Erin Hayes have turned their connection to The Woodlands into WDLNDS, a local clothing brand designed around modern everyday apparel and a recognizable hometown identity.

WDLNDS reflects much of the lifestyle associated with The Woodlands itself — casual, polished and focused on quality. The brand is built around what its founders describe as elevated essentials: comfortable pieces made from premium materials and designed to last rather than follow a short-lived trend. It is the kind of clothing intended to feel just as natural at a community event in The Woodlands as it would packed for a summer trip to Aspen, worn to a weekend sporting event or simply pulled from the closet for an everyday outing. The idea is understated hometown identity — recognizable to those who know The Woodlands, without looking like traditional hometown apparel.
The company launched its inaugural collection with its first drop Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026. Rather than producing traditional hometown shirts, Snell and Hayes said they wanted clothing residents could wear to a school event, around town, while traveling or as part of an everyday wardrobe.
Hayes has a background in retail, while Snell brings a creative background to the business. Both said their involvement with local schools and families helped shape the idea.
“We're both really involved with the schools,” Snell said during an interview with The Woodlands Student Center. She said they wanted something people could wear “whether it's basketball games or to the store or on a trip or wherever” while still representing where they live.
Quality became one of the first priorities.
Hayes said the founders went through months of samples before selecting the materials and fits used in the first collection. The brand's T-shirts are made from 100% cotton with a heavier-weight material and modern fit.
The hoodies, crewnecks and sweatpants were selected with similar goals, including softness, color retention and maintaining their shape after repeated wear.
“We really focused on longevity and something that you're going to keep in your closet as your go-to item,” Hayes said.
Snell said the sampling process lasted about nine months and included repeated washing to see how the clothing would hold up. She said the pieces became softer through washing without the fading they wanted to avoid.
The founders also brought local students into the development and presentation of the brand.

Snell said they wanted to include young people involved in different activities across the community, including athletics and school organizations, both to reflect the variety of students in The Woodlands and to get their reactions to the clothing.
The students effectively became test models.
“We're like, ‘Would you wear this?’” Snell said.

The name itself is also intended to create a local connection.
WDLNDS removes the vowels from “Woodlands,” following a modern naming style the founders had noticed among other brands. Hayes said the spelling also became something of an inside connection for residents.
Someone unfamiliar with the community might have to work out what WDLNDS means, she said, while someone from the area is more likely to immediately recognize The Woodlands.
That recognition is part of the idea behind taking the clothing beyond the community.
“If you're from here, you're going to look at that and go, ‘Oh, Woodlands. Are you from The Woodlands?’” Hayes said.

WDLNDS plans to continue selling online while appearing at pop-up locations and community events. The founders said upcoming appearances are announced through the brand's Instagram, TikTok and Facebook accounts and through its email list.
