Grand Oaks Grizzlies Secure First District Win Against Caney Creek Panthers

Grizzlies' Pitching and Defense Shine in Shutout Victory

In a crucial District 13-6A baseball game, the Grand Oaks Grizzlies triumphed over the Caney Creek Panthers with a decisive 5-0 victory on Saturday at The Grand Oaks High School Campus Baseball Field in Spring, Texas.

Despite overcast skies and a chance of rain, a good-sized crowd gathered to watch the final game of Spring Break. The game, which was rescheduled to 1:00 pm to avoid potential afternoon rain, saw Grand Oaks taking an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Davin Luck's walk, Collin Martin's triple, and Jalen Johnson's groundout contributed to a quick five-run lead. Left-handed pitcher Mason Kinchen dominated the mound for Grand Oaks, delivering a stellar performance with zero hits and zero runs allowed over four innings.

Grand Oaks' early lead and strong pitching, including a solid bullpen performance, were key to their shutout victory over Caney Creek.

Greg Sommer, the starting pitcher for Caney Creek, faced challenges in the first inning but settled down afterward, not allowing another run for the rest of the game.

The Grand Oaks bullpen, including relievers Crew Tidwell and Braeden Sanches, contributed significantly to the team's shutout, maintaining their lead until the end. Martin, with his three RBIs, and Bennett Hale, who went 3-for-4 at the plate, were standout performers for Grand Oaks. The Grizzlies also executed a flawless double play, showcasing their defensive prowess. On the other side, Aaron Molina led the Panthers with one hit in two at-bats.

This victory marks Grand Oaks' first district win of the season, bringing their record to 1-1, while Caney Creek falls to 0-2. The teams are set to face off again on Tuesday in what promises to be another intense matchup.
