In a heartfelt ceremony held on Thursday, Interfaith of The Woodlands announced its 2024 Hometown Heroes. This special recognition, part of the organization's 50th Anniversary, honored four individuals, a couple, and two organizations for their significant contributions to The Woodlands community.
Interfaith of The Woodlands celebrated its landmark 50th Anniversary by naming Roxanne Davis, Justin Kendrick, Nicole & Will Murphy, Dr. Mark Murrell, Ray Sanders, The John Cooper School, and Rotary of The Woodlands as the latest inductees to the esteemed Hometown Heroes roster. These selectees join a prestigious group of 162 individuals, businesses, and organizations honored since the inception of the Hometown Heroes in 1999, marking The Woodlands' 25th Anniversary.
The announcement was made at a gathering at The Woodlands Towers, surrounded by the friends, families, and alumni of past Hometown Heroes. The event was notably sponsored by Howard Hughes Corporation and featured amenities provided by Truluck’s The Woodlands and Piney Rose.
Missy Herndon, President & CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, expressed her admiration for the community's spirit. "Our community is brimming with extraordinary individuals who dedicate themselves to service, making The Woodlands an ideal place to live, work, and grow. These Heroes, nominated by the community and chosen for their impactful contributions, embody the values and vision of Mr. George P. Mitchell for our community," Herndon stated.
The criteria for Hometown Hero selection include being a positive role model, a history of volunteerism, sacrificing personal gain for noble causes, and demonstrating leadership and courage that align with The Woodlands' community values. Nominations, which were open in the Fall, were reviewed by a committee comprising previous Hometown Heroes.
The much-anticipated Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala, scheduled for April 20, 2024, will see these heroes officially honored. Presented by Woodforest National Bank, this gala is the largest annual fundraiser for Interfaith of The Woodlands, with all proceeds supporting various community programs and services. The 2024 Hometown Heroes exemplify a legacy of service and dedication to The Woodlands. Their recognition not only honors their individual efforts but also reinforces the community's commitment to fostering an environment of support, leadership, and collective growth. As The Woodlands prepares to celebrate these remarkable individuals and organizations, the spirit of unity and service continues to thrive in the heart of this community.
